BROMELIADS Aechmea TAYOENSIS Yes, it is a Bromeliad!

Description

This is Aechmea Tayoensis. I know I keep saying "this is one of my favorites" but cheeeeez they are so cool! This is so unusual that some people wouldn't even know it's a bromeliad. There are 2 kinds, short petiole (short stem) and long petiole (long stem), but the coloring is very similar. This is the short petiole form. The foliage can be anywhere from brilliant lime green, to a golden green.....and the stems get bright red. The brilliant rosy red bloom comes down in the center, not on a spike like other Aechmeas.  Once we were at a show at Fairchild's and I hadn't seen anything that I didn't have or that really grabbed me. We turned the corner near the end and the heavens opened up and shone a brilliant light straight down on the large, peach colored one that I'm showing in the last 2 shots. Angels sang and I was spellbound. Peter Kouchalacas (sp) was selling it and it had been grown by the Tayoensis queen, Eloise Beach and she had colored it up to a sublime color of peaches!  I got it and carried it for several months to "Show and Tell" at the society meetings. What a score!  I have tried to color mine up like that but I haven't gotten the recipe down yet. Anyway, the sale plant is just like the one in the first 3 pictures.
Hi Everyone! So now I've moved and I'm almost done. It's the first time I've ever been in a different location from my plants, since I started my business.  It feels weird. I'm used to looking out my door anytime day or night, and seeing them. I visited them today and it was like visiting my pets! Little by little, they will be coming to my new home.  There have been changes all over the place, but one thing never changes. Bless my bromeliads for hanging in there! My personal collection has been tested and shows it, but luckily they waited for me and will thrive again, just like us. In the meantime, I've scored some nice plants to share with you and am so glad to be back. I missed you and hope you're all well.
You know the drill.....I ship as soon as possible and will combine plants to save on shipping costs. The volume of the package matters now more than the weight so it may actually be more cost effective to ship in 2 smaller boxes, than a larger one.
I will be glad to send you a shipping refund after the packages are weighed and measured.
I've been using UPS more now because it's more reliable than USPS. Priority mail still claims 2-3 days but tells you the estimated delivery date is a week or frequently more. At least UPS is up front with me.
I welcome any questions you have....although I try to keep my social media time down, so I only do FB. I don't do Messenger, Twitter, or Instagram.
